Solution for Connecting 7-Way Adapter to 2011 Ford Ranger
Published 10/24/2016 >
Question:
My 2011 Ford Ranger has a factory installed flat 4-way plug that looks like all the other fittings of this type, but when it came time to connect the 4-way to 7-way adapter #30717 to pull my pop-up camper, it seems as if the Ford connector is not a standard design and achieving solid connection was impossible without trimming the Ford connector to get a decent connection. The universal adapter looks like a good solution. Is this something youve seen before? , or should I just replace the factory end with a universal connector?

If your 4-way has a much larger connector to allow the part # 30717 to install then you could either replace the 4-way on the vehicle with # 18252 then plug in the 30717, hardwire the # 30717 (but then you wouldn't have the option for a 4-way), or hardwire the part # 37185 instead as it has both a 4-way and a 7-way.
