To determine the amount of drop you need in a ball mount you need to have your trailer and tow vehicle on level ground and measure from the ground to the bottom of your coupler, and from the ground to the inside of the top of your hitch receiver. I've attached a couple of pictures to help show this.
Since you measured from the bottom of each you're likely going to need more than 10 inches drop. You'll likely need around 12 inches or so like the Convert-A-Ball, part # AMSC12. If you need a 2 inch ball use # 40038 of if you need a 2-5/16 inch ball use # C40007.
I've linked our selection of ball mounts as well as a help article on choosing the correct one for you.
