Helpful Expert Reply:
While towing your 5th wheel trailer, your sliding hitch # BWRVK3400 must remain positioned on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. By keeping the trailer's pin weight between the rear axle and cab, you will avoid steering and traction issues due to the front of your vehicle lifting up, which occur with the hitch in the turning position between the rear axle and the tail gate. At slower speeds you would position the slider between the rear axle and the tailgate of your truck creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.
If you're concerned about having to get out of your truck every time you want to turn, then I would recommend the Demco Autoslide Hitch # DM8550035 for your situation. You will never have to get out of your truck to adjust this auto sliding hitch. If you send me your truck's year make and model, I can follow up with a custom fit rail application.
