Question:
I am planning on purchasing a light travel trailer a R-pod 177-approx 2,600 lbs in the coming months. I drive a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee E with tow package, rated at 6200 lbs of towing capability. I am not using a weight distribution hitch as I do not feel it is necessary, as I pull my 3,500 boat with no difficulty. So my question, is there any reason that I can not use this sway bar on my Travel trailer. I also plan on also purchasing the Reese Sway Control Bracket #RP26003.

The Curt Friction Sway Control, # 17200, can be used without a weight distribution system like you mentioned by using the Reese Sway-Control Bracket you referenced, # RP26003. This system helps to fight trailer sway, but only after it begins by adding friction to the sliding bar to stabilize your trailer. This is a reactive system that will help with your trailer sway after it has started and has adjustable tension. This is a great cost effective option for limited sway. It does however require drilling into your trailer frame.
The use of a weight distribution system like the Equil-i-zer Weight Distribution System with 4-point Sway Control, # EQ37040ET, isn't only for easing weight that causes a tow vehicle to squat and not tow level. Many people use because of its ability to control sway. Distributing the weight does help with stabilizing the trailer which will help prevent sway, but this system also uses the spring bars to limit movement. This type of sway control is a more functional system at prevention of sway by utilizing friction on both sides of the trailer which keeps the trailer in a straight line with constant 4 point friction.
