Adapter For Towing Trailer with Separate Turn Signals with Vehicle with Combined 4-Way

Published 10/05/2016

Question:

My tow vehicle has a flat 4 trailer wire output and the trailer i need to tow has a 5 wire input. The trailer has individual turn signals. Is there a product out there that will convert this for me? Thank you,

The trailer you have may already have a taillight converter installed on it so that the turn signals would be separated out. If you try to attach the 4-way of your tow vehicle to the 5-way do the lights work fine? Typically the 5-way is seen for reverse lights or a reverse lock out if the trailer has surge brakes.

If not you would need the part # 118158 to separate out your combined vehicle wiring. You could cut off the 5-way of your trailer, wire this in place of it and then on the input side of the box use a 4-way like the part # HM48205.
