High Capacity Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Toyota Highlander

Published 09/23/2016

Question:

I want to make sure there is a class IV hitch that fits a 2016 Toyota highlander. Will only really be towing a flat bed utility trailer with it with a max of 1500 lbs on it. Thanks Regards

We have high capacity hitches available for the 2016 Toyota Highlander but none of them are classified as Class IV. For example, we have the Curt hitch part # C13200 which has the towing capacity of 6,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 900 lbs but it is a Class III. Sounds like it would have more than enough capacity for your trailer though.

If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For trailer wiring you would want the part # C56217 which is also a confirmed fit.
