Where Is Factory Brake Controller Plug Located On 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Question:

Where do I find the wiring to connect my control unit to? I have a factory installed type III/IV towing package on my truck. Will it be located under the dash? How do I recognize it....special color or configuration? 2010 ford explorer sport trac Thanks.

On your 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac the factory plug for your brake controller will be located under the dash, on the left side of the steering wheel, just above your left leg.

The wiring adapter you will need to connect the Draw-Tite Brake Controller # 5504 to your vehicle is the Draw-Tite Brake Control Wiring Adapter # 3035-S. This adapter will have a 6-pin plug that will connect to your factory brake controller plug and the 4 wires on the other end will be butt-connected to the 4 wires on your brake controller, color to color.

I am sending a picture of the 6-pin plug end of the wiring adapter that will plug into your factory brake controller plug on your vehicle. This will show you the shape of the factory brake controller plug you will be looking for under your dash.

I have the same situation with my Sport Trac, I already bought the cable and connected to the factory plug under the dash but my camper has 7 way connection and the Sport Trac 4 way what I need to convert it and if it works with the factory tow 4 way package system if I converted to 7 way Thanks

Can you tell me what model year Sport Trac you have? From what I'm finding all of the 2010 models should have come equipped with a 7-Way connector.

@ChrisR Ford Explorer Sport Trac 2010 XLT, it have 4way plug and it have the factory under the dash plug. I have also a 2008 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer and it have the 7way connection and factory plug under the dash, I just bought 3035 cable and plugged to the brake controller.

@Eric Thanks for the info! So to convert the existing 4-Way on your Explorer Sport Trac to a fully functional 7-Way you'll need the Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything you need to make this happen.
