Question:

We are purchasing a 2016 Cherokee Overland with Adaptive Braking sensor in the middle of the lower bumper. Can you tell me if the BX1136 baseplate will work for this model? Also, is there a wiring kit to plug into the rear brake and turn signal lights?

For the 2016 Jeep Cherokee Overland the base plate kit to use is actually the part # DM9519307. It would not interfere with the adaptive cruise control either. I recommend using the Demco Commander tow bar # DM9511012 to go with the base plates.

For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

The easiest braking systems to set up and use are the portable systems like the Blue Ox Patriot Radio Frequency # BLU37TR along with the # RM-9332. It applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles
