Question:
Hello, I have a 2012 GMC Acadia with a factory installed trailer pkg. Attached are two pages from the towing section of the owner’s manual. I have a few questions about the installation of the TK90160 controller and 3026-P wiring adapter. 1 After I connect the brake controller to the vehicles trailer harness plug under the steering column is there anything else I need to do? 2 The vehicle has a 30 Amp fuse installed in the underhood electrical center but the wires are not connected. Where do I find these wires and where do they get connected to? 3 Once the above questions work is completed is the anything else I need to do? Thank you for your assistance

If your 2012 GMC Acadia was equipped with the factory installed 7-way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle, then installing a brake controller will be a plug-and-play process. You'll need the # 3026-P brake controller wiring harness, as you mentioned. Other than attaching the controller in its desired mounting location and plugging in the harness, there's nothing else that needs to be done.
Install the # TK90160 Primus brake controller under the dash, to the right of the steering column. The connector for the wiring harness is located under the dash, just above where the drivers left knee will sit. (See linked instructions for 3026-P).
If the Acadia isn't equipped with the factory 7-way, you'd need to do a hardwire installation using our # ETBC7 brake controller install kit. The kit includes an adapter to convert a functional 4-pole into a 7-way, so if you don't already have a 4-pole connector you'd need to install one using # 118451. I've linked you to the instructions for the ETBC7 kit, as well as to some install videos that you'll find helpful.
