Helpful Expert Reply:

The spring bars of the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # C17422 are 28-3/8 inches and the bars on the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System with Shank # C17333 are 28-5/8 inches. So the difference between the two is only 1/4 inch.

The larger difference between these two weight distribution systems is that # C17422 is equipped with sway control and also comes with a hitch ball. With the # C17333 system there is no sway control device and you will need to purchase a hitch ball separately # A-90.
