Updated 09/15/2010 | Published 09/14/2010 >
Question:
I would like to install a trailer hitch on my vehicle but an uncertain if it is necessary to install a transmission cooler. Of course, the dealer recommends but i am not planning to tow long distances or anything over 3K I would be towing a 7x10 trailer with 2 Quads or dirt on the same trailer less than twice a year. The total cost from the dealer is $1400 includes hitch, wiring, tran cooler, labor.

I would definitely recommend checking your owners manual for the 2010 Mercedes ML350, as sometimes manufacturers do require a transmission cooler for towing, in order to maintain the vehicle warranty. It does not look like we offer any custom transmission cooler fittings for your vehicle, but if you could provide the size of your radiator inlets, I would be glad to check for available fits.
Curt # 13342 would be a good choice for your vehicle, as it has the most common 2 inch hitch opening size, but please note that none of the hitches we offer for the 2010 ML350 models will fit if you have the air suspension package.
You will need to contact your dealer for wiring for towing.
I have included a link below to more information on transmission coolers, if needed.
