Replacement Installation Kit for Longview Towing Mirrors LVT-3100C

Published 06/08/2016

Question:

I just finished reviewing your product positively and thought of this question after: Shouldnt the lock-on strap be produced of a stronger material than plastic? Im worried that at some point the strap will snap, rendering the product useless. How can I get an extra set of straps for these mirrors? Thank you in advance for your attention!

Replacement hardware for your Longview Towing Mirrors # LVT-3100C is available in the event you need it. Part # KLV-3110C consists of two clips and two knobs.

The reason this item is made of plastic is that plastic is the material from which most mirror housings are made. By using a similar material damage is avoided. If the clip were made of steel, it sure would be stronger but it would also be more likely to cause damage to the mirror housing.

You can think of this in much the same way that kitchen utensils are chosen. In a cast iron pan you can use steel utensils, but in a Teflon pan you must use wood or plastic utensils which are closer to the pan material in hardness, and therefore less likely to damage it.
