Platform Style Bike Rack for a Womens Electra Towniew/Step-Through Frame and 2010 Subaru Forester

Question:
I have a 2010 Subaru Forester and a womens Electra Townie. How well does this rack hold a womens step thru type bike? Im trying to avoid the body damage you hear about from using a hanging type rack. And my Townie has fenders on it.

Platform style bike racks with the hooks in the middle are not really the best option for bikes with step-through frames. The issue is that the hooks sometimes can't get low enough to properly secure the bikes.
What I recommend is the Saris Freedom # SA4412B. With it you can grip the frame with the adjustable, rotating frame clamps so the step-through frame design and fenders will not be a problem! I have linked a video showing the rack on a similar vehicle.
