Trailer Hitch and Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for a 1994 Toyota Corolla

Updated 04/27/2016 | Published 04/24/2016

Question:

Ive got a 94 Toyota Corolla Wagon, and am looking for a bike rack for 1 or 2 bikes. I see that the Swagman Grid Lock 3 should fit my vehicle, but I also saw that you sell hitches for my car as well, which would be useful for more than a bike rack. So, my questions: Can I get a hitch that I can install myself? I noticed the Curt 11283, but my cars frame has tow hooks bolted to the inside wall of the frame, not the outside as the instructions state. Is there a not-too-expensive platform style rack that will work with this hitch I saw the comment about the stabilizing strap not working with a platform rack. Any suggestions or additional thoughts greatly appreciated!

For your 1994 Toyota Corolla Wagon the Curt Hitch part # C11181 is a confirmed fit that would work well. If your hooks are on the inside of the trailer frame you would need to remove them to allow this hitch to install, but that wouldn't really be a big deal.

The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack part # S64670. This rack has a ton of positive reviews from our customers who have tried it. Check out the review video I attached for more info.

Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well.

You could run the stabilizer strap part # 18050 through the bike frame to the center mast of the rack to stabilize it there.
