How Do I Find Which Replacement Yakima Key and Crossbar is Needed?

Question:

I have a leer camper shell with Yakima cargo bars on the roof . I purchased the truck used and do not have the keys to remove the bars. I dont see any key code numbers . The bars are rusted and need removed. How do I find a key and also can I get replacement bars

The lock core number isn't stamped on the outside of the core so if the rack is locked you will need to get a locksmith to unlock the core and then use a change key like # 853-1251 to remove the core.

If the lock is unlocked then you will only need the change key # 853-1251 to find out which replacement key number you will need. I have linked a picture to show you were to find the core number which will correspond to the key number needed. For example, if your core had 038 stamped on it you would want the key number # Y8873-038.

You most likely have round Yakima crossbars so you will want to measure to see how long they so you can order the correct replacement bars like # Y00420 which are 86 inches.
