Trailer Wheel/Tire Recommendation w Higher Speed Rating ST225/75R15 and 6 on 5-1/2 in Bolt Pattern

Updated 04/25/2016 | Published 04/21/2016

Question:

What is the speed rating of the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15inch Modular White Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - Load Range D? Also these will replace bias tires of same size on my travel trailer. What do you recommend bias or radial for a travel trailer? Please let me know for both questions. Thanks

I have a great solution for you, but the Karrier Wheel and Tire part # AM32673 that you referenced is rated for 65 mph. The best solution would be the Taskmaster wheel and tire part # TA42FR which has a 81 mph speed rating. This matches the wheel you mentioned in every other regard. Same size, same bolt pattern and same style white wheel.

Radial tires are preferred over bias-ply. A radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear.

A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially when the tire is under a load. A tire that runs cooler will last longer.
