Updated 04/23/2016 | Published 04/21/2016

Question:

I noticed my original Triton wheels have been balanced. The have a weight on the rim. Are these balanced or ready mount?

The wheel/tire combos we carry aren't balanced at the factory. When the tire is mounted to the wheel, the high (heavy) spot on the wheel is matched to the low (light) spot on the tire, which leaves the wheel and tire somewhat balanced.

You may have the wheel/tire professionally balanced if you wish, but having perfectly balanced tires is not as important with trailer tires as it is with a passenger vehicle, since there's no steering axle. Due to the more rudimentary suspension, trailers tend to ride much rougher than a regular vehicles do, which makes it difficult to keep the wheel weights in place.

I have linked you to our Tire and Wheel help article that contains more helpful information about trailer tires.
