Longer Ball Mount for More Clearance Between 2016 Chevy Traverse and Boat Trailer

Question:

I have new 2016 Chevy Traverse 1LT that I will be towing my Ez loader dual axel boat trailer about 4000 lbs total. Chevy Hitch is somewhat hidden and standard drawbar leaves ball too close to the bumper. I back my boat up my driveway, chock trailer wheels and then remove the boat at the end of the day. Trailer usually jumps a few inches until the chock kick in. Want to avoid hitting car bumper with the trailer coupler. Looking at curt C45270 or hidden hitch 80228. Suspect that I need about 2 inches of rise. The curt is 13 inches from pin hole to ball mount center and the HH is only 11.25. Im thinking the Curt will give me more room with the extra 2 inches. Any down side to being too long? Will the HH80228 give me enough clearance. which do you recommend for the traverse ? Thanks for the help

A longer ball mount will not cause you any problems as far as capacity or clearances or anything like that. So, if the Curt ball mount # C45270 has the proper capacity (7,500 pound gross trailer weight and 750 pounds tongue weight) then it will work with your 2016 Chevy Traverse.

The Hidden Hitch ball mount 80228 has a little more rise, 2-3/4 inches, and the capacity is lower (6,000/600) and is shorter. Since the Curt ball mount is more like what you are looking for I would go with it.
