Question:
Hello, I am rebuilding a utility trailer. Current springs are very weak and Id like to replace the homemade hanger system too. Axle is a 2inch square axle, would like to re-use if possible. No idea on weight rating, but 3500lb springs would give me plenty of capacity for planned use of trailer. Would the e54SR springs be the correct to install? Would also use with APS1 hangers and appropriate square U-bolts. Attached picture shows axle and frame where new hangers would be attached to left of existing springs, after they are removed

Since you do not know the capacity of the trailer axle then you can't go by the capacity of the springs. If the axle is rated for 2,000 pounds and the springs for a 3,500 pound axle then you would still be limited to 2,000 pounds. If you have the inner and outer bearing numbers then that will help to determine what the likely axle capacity is.
Since you want to replace the hangers as well as the springs then it doesn't matter which springs you choose. If the axle does end up having a 3,500 pound capacity then spring # e54SR will work just fine with the proper hanger kit such as # APS1.
For u-bolts we have # SP01-160 for a 2 inch square axle and plate # 117594. I have included a link to our help article on double-eye suspension for you.
