The Deka Battery Isolator # DW08770 is not vehicle-specific; it will work fine on your 1986 Dodge Ramcharger to protect the truck battery from excessive discharge and to regulate current in a multi-battery system.

If your truck has a CS alternator you will use installation kit # DW08768. If it has the SI alternator use kit # DW08769. The difference will be in the part number of the alternator. An SI has SI as the last two digits of the number. The other way to tell is that the SI has an external fan on it and the CS is much larger than an SI.SI means it has the voltage regulator integrated into the alternator.

I have linked a wiring diagram for you that shows the connections for the isolator, main truck battery, alternator and auxiliary battery. We also offer a 120-amp version of the isolator, part # DW08771.
