Expert Reply:
The correct front mounted receiver for your 2004 Silverado 1500 will depend on whether its a 1500LD or a 1500HD model.
How can you tell which one you have? It's very simple. If it's an HD model, the front driver and passenger side doors will have a 1500HD badge on them. If it's an LD model, there will be no badges.
For the HD model, I'd recommend the Curt # 31108. If you have the LD model, go with the Curt # 31302. I've linked you to install videos for both hitches.
