Is the Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Hitch Compatible with a Revolution Pin Box and 2010 Ram 2500

Question:

I have a 2010 Dodge 2500 Crew Cab that will be towing a Rockwood trailer equipped with a Reese Revolution. I would like to use a Reese Elite hitch so that I can have a clean truck bed when not towing. Are they compatible? Will the Revolution allow me to make make a 90 degree turn if necessary?

Yes, the Reese Revolution pin box and the Reese Elite Series 5th wheel hitches such as # RP30142 are compatible with each other. You will just need the appropriate custom wedge # SWW-01.

Since you are using a Revolution pin box I recommend using the fixed version of the Elite hitch # RP30142 because the pin box is not meant to be used with a slider hitch.

For an installation kit that will fit your 2010 Ram 2500 and the Elite hitch I recommend # RP30852 which is the custom fit below the bed option for your truck.

To determine if your trailer will be able to make 90 degree turns there are some measurements that are needed. When the hitch is installed the center of the king pin will be approximately dead center over the truck's rear axle. Measure the distance from that point to the back of the truck cab and then add the amount of extension of the Revolution (the aftermarket version, the Sidewinder, has 22 inches of extension).

So for example if the measurement from the center of the rear axle to the back of the cab is 30 inches and the extension is 22 inches that is a total of 52 inches. This measurement has to be 4 inches or more than half the width of the front of the trailer to safely make 90 degree turns. So the maximum width the trailer can be if we ended up with 52 inches would be 96 inches. I have linked a help article that will also help.
