Recommended Lock for Securing Rightline Cargo Bags to the Roof of My Vehicle

Question:
I am contemplating on purchasing your FJ Cargo Carrier. Will be leaving from California to Illinois and wondering how you leave this on your vehicle without someone just cutting the straps off and walking away with your luggage while you are sleeping in hotel room?

If you meant to ask about how to securely lock the Rightline Cargo Bag # RL100S30 you were looking at to your vehicles roof, I have a solution for you.
I recommend the Rightline cable lock # RL100640 for their cargo bags that has a retractable steel cable that is 35 inches long. This steel cable secures your bag's zipper, locks the bag to your roof rack, or does both. You can even pull out the exact amount of cable needed to help prevent theft. In addition to having a steel cable the lock lets you choose a 3-digit combination so you wont have any keys to keep track of.
This lock will detour theft but not prevent it, if you are concerned about your luggage sitting out overnight, I would suggest to bring it into the hotel room with you. To make it easier to transport to and from the hotel you may be interested in multiple duffel bags with mounting straps like # RL100D90. These can be mounted on the roof of your vehicle like the larger Rightline cargo bags but will make it easier to transport when you arrive at your final destination, or any stops in between.
I have linked all the products above as well as an image of multiple duffels and a few video demonstrations of the products.
