Question:
On the Gorilla Lift, can I mount snap hooks on both cables to remove the tailgate? I use my trailer to carry long loads, and with an overhang I must remove the tailgate at times.

Technically, yes, you could install the Gorilla Lift # GL1 so that it can quickly disconnect from the tailgate but it does not come with the hardware to do so. You would need something like quick links, # 6590-044-04.
Also be sure that the tailgate on the trailer has a secondary latch to hold it in place such as a couple of # SL716.
