Troubleshooting 12 Volt Accessory Circuit Not Active on a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD

Question:

I have a 2006 GMC duramax 2500 HD with the stock tow package connections and wiring. The + or hot wire on the 7 pin connector is not hot . My first thought is that the fuse is burned out - so I looked at all 3 fuse boxes and can not fine where it is located. Could you be of help in finding it ? I found a 30 amp mega fuse in the box under the hood that powers the brake controller/aux power which I tested and it is good, but still no power to the + pin at the rear. Thanks,

The issue you are having is a fairly common problem. There are a few connections that need to be made under the hood of your 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD in order for the 12 volt accessory circuit to be active.
