Question:

will these brackets fit a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with a short bed? The rails are rbw, but my thinking is as long as it gets the bracket to the bottom of the bed the rails could be drilled in the appropriate spot to line up. Thanks for the info

Yes, the Curt Custom, No-Drill Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit, # C16420, will fit your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 short bed. I have included a link to the installation details below. I do not recommend modifying the rails to fit the brackets as it could compromise the structural integrity of the steel and cause unwanted performance.

If you have an RBW 5th wheel trailer hitch, that has tabs that install in above bed fifth-wheel rails, it will fit in Curt rails. But many times RBW rails will not accept other brand 5th wheels because they lack the necessary slots for different size 5th wheel hitches. With that said, I do not recommend mixing manufacturers for rails and brackets as there could be any number of compatibility problems. It is best to acquire the same brand or in a kit.

I recommend using the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # C16420-204, which contains both brackets and rails.
