Hi Larry,

Based on the model number you provided, the RVS-770619NA is an older version of the Rear View Safety Universal Mirror Monitor with the 7 inch color screen, part # RVS-619N. From what you're describing, it sounds like the monitor is getting the signal to switch into reverse because you're still seeing the guide lines, but it's losing the video feed from the camera. The fact that the monitor sometimes won't power on at all also points to either an intermittent power issue or a failing component somewhere in the system.

I'd start with the simple things first. Disconnect the monitor from power for a minute or two, then plug everything back in to give it a hard reset. Next, check all of the cable connections between the monitor and the camera. Make sure the 4 pin connectors are fully seated and tightened, then unplug them and inspect the pins for any corrosion, bent pins, or dirt before reconnecting them. It's also worth checking for any in line fuses on the camera wiring harness.

If those all look good, I'd check whether the rear camera is getting power when the vehicle is in reverse. If you have a multimeter, verify that the camera is receiving 12 volt power. If it is getting power but the monitor still says "No Signal," the camera itself has likely failed. Since this is a Class C motorhome, it's also a good idea to inspect the camera housing for signs of water intrusion or damaged wiring. Moisture getting into the camera is a pretty common cause of intermittent problems like the ones you're seeing.

One thing that would also help narrow this down is whether the monitor loses power only when you're in reverse or if it will randomly shut off even while you're driving. That can help determine whether we're chasing a camera issue, a wiring problem, or something with the monitor itself.

@LarryR Thanks for the update, Larry. That additional information is really helpful. Since the camera is still producing an image (even though it's badly distorted) we know the camera is at least transmitting a video signal. The fact that the monitor sometimes won't power on while the motorhome is in Park makes me suspect the issue is more likely with the monitor's power supply, the monitor itself, or the power wiring feeding it, rather than the camera. If you have a multimeter, I'd recommend checking that the monitor is receiving a steady 12-volt power supply and has a good ground, even when it won't turn on. A loose ground connection or voltage drop can cause intermittent power loss and display issues like you're describing. If the power and ground remain consistent but the monitor still won't reliably power up or continues showing a distorted image, the monitor has likely developed an internal fault. Since the RVS-770619NA is an older system, that wouldn't be unusual. Let me know what voltage you measure at the monitor's power connector when it's acting up, and we can help narrow it down from there.
