Im installing a kit # etbc7 my vehicle is a 2008 Honda Ridgeline with Plug and play connection for the brake control Do I still need to wire into the firewall?

If you have the brake controller on your 2008 Honda Ridgeline but are using the hardwire kit # ETBC7 you could test the pins of the port on your vehicle to see if the 12 volt circuit is active with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. If you find a pin with 12 volts all the time then you can use it for the black wire of the controller. Otherwise you will need to run the wire to the battery.
For the red wire of the controller you can test other pins on the connector you found to see if you can find a circuit that only has 12 volts when the brake are applied.
