Question:
My Pro Series never says it is charging and the battery always says it needs a charge when I push the test button. Any ideas on what to check in the wiring? The unit works when I test it by activating the switch. It has just never shown that it is charging when connected to any of my pickups.

Test the 12 volt power wire that feeds the charging circuit for the breakaway kit part # 50-85-315 that you have installed on your trailer with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. You should be getting 12 volts running into the battery box that will be providing the battery with a maintenance charge.
You can also test the wiring leading to the battery from the lid with it disconnected from the battery to see if there is voltage there. If so, then the lid of the box must be defective and not reading that your charging system is working. If not, then the problem is most likely on the tow vehicle side of the 12 volt circuit. Check for blown fuses or relays related to the tow package circuits.
