Updated 08/31/2015 | Published 08/30/2015 >
Question:
Once the adapter is installed, will connecting the safety chains on to the truck remain mandatory. I know the brake away cable always needs to be connected. Im just not sure about the safety chains

The laws can be a little fuzzy and vary from state to state but it seems like if the trailer couples to a ball then you have to have safety chains. Technically, by using Bulldog adapter # BD0289640300 the gooseneck trailer is no longer coupling to a ball so logic dictates you would not need safety chains. However the safest thing to do would be to continue using safety chains and avoiding any possible tickets or fines.
If you need a heavy duty safety chain we have # FCHA0070324 ( sold in quantities of 1) rated for 45,200 pounds.
