Wont my wiring kit from my 2012 Chevy traverse fit my 2015 traverse?

The trailer wiring harness you have now for the 2012 Chevy Traverse is # 118450. It only fits up to 2012 models. The 2013 model year had some changes that continued in the 2014 and 2015 models which is why the wiring harness for the 2012 models will not fit the 2015 models.
For a 2015 Chevy Traverse that did not come with a factory trailer connector you can use Curt harness # C56181.
