Question:

I am hoping I could get some recommendations on purchasing a rack system for a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the black and chrome roof side rails. I am looking at carrying 4 kayaks. I was thinking of doing this with 4 sets of Yakima Jaylows. I already own two sets of Jaylows, so I am hoping to recuse these and buy 2 more. My biggest question is what would be length and type of cross bars that would work best for this? I have pictures of this similar thing being done on a Subaru. I can send those if needed. The best roof rack we carry for using long crossbars is the Yakima RoundBar system. Since the bars slide through the mounting points on the feet you can essentially use whatever length of bar you'd like. I do caution you to not get bars that extend out further than the side view mirrors though.

The Yakima system that fits your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the black and chrome roof rails is the SkyLine system. You need the SkyLine towers # Y53TR, RoundBar adapter # Y03536, and Landing pad # Y00244. Then you need to choose the length of bars you want. I imagine the 58 inch bars are enough but you can go longer:

58 inch, part # Y00409
66 inch, part # Y00410
78 inch, part # Y00411

The JayLow # Y04073 has the capacity to support two kayaks with one carrier so you can carry all four of your kayaks with what you have. I recommend double checking the total weight of the kayaks and JayLow carriers to make sure you will not exceed the weight capacity of your roof rack. I also recommend double checking that you will have enough space on your roof to carry 4 kayaks.

If you need additional bow and stern tie-downs you can use part # Y04031 from Yakima. For additional cinch straps, you can use # Y05006.
