Can a Hole be Drilled in Gooseneck Trailer Outer Tube to Install Adjustable Coupler

Question:

I do not have an adjustable coupler on my gooseneck. Was not made that way. Can I still use your inner tube to install inside of it and drill a hole in my outter shaft to stabilize it with a pin

You would need to contact the trailer manufacturer to see if you can safely use the trailer after drilling a hole for an adjustable coupler such as # BD0287610300. the outer tube would have to have one to use this type of coupler so provided there was a hole and the trailer manufacturer was fine with adding one then you could use it.

The outer diameter of the coupler tube is 4 inches so the inner diameter of the outer tube needs to be slightly larger for it to fit.

Another option, which you would also need to ask the trailer manufacturer about, is to have the old coupler completely removed and have a new one such as # BD0289500300 welded on in its place by a qualified professional welder. I am not sure which, if either, the trailer manufacturer would go for but I imagine that drilling a hole would be more likely since it is much less invasive.
