The Curt # C13386 and Draw-Tite # 76034 trailer hitches for your 2014 Ford Explorer both feature 2 x 2 inch hitch receivers, a Class III rating, and will not require drilling for installation.
When used with a weight distribution system, the Curt and Draw-Tite trailer hitches all allow you up to 500 pounds total tongue weight capacity and 5,000 pound gross trailer weight towing capacity. When not using a weight distribution system, the Curt hitch has a 4,000 pound towing capacity with a 400 pound tongue weight capacity. The Draw-Tite hitch offers a 4,500 pound towing capacity with a 675 pound tongue weight capacity.
These trailer hitches do not require any drilling for installation, and the exhaust must be temporarily lowered to install the trailer hitch. The Draw-Tite trailer hitch installation requires the exhaust to be repositioned.
I recommend the Curt trailer hitch # C13386. This hitch doesn't require your exhaust to be repositioned and is economically priced without sacrificing quality.
I have attached installation videos of the Curt # C13386 for you.
If you are planning on pulling a trailer, I also recommend the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118540. This wiring harness plugs into your vehicle's existing wiring system and doesn't require and cutting, splicing, or tapping. I have included an installation video of this wiring harness for you.
I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989900 if you will need a 2 inch hitch ball mount. This kit comes with two ball mounts that have different drop and rise sizes, as well as two hitch balls with different ball diameter.
