Question:
I have dexter axles with hydraulic surge brakes on my 1985 Boyer boat trailer. I cant read the plates on axles to see the capacity . The backing plate has the number 8-201-9 on it drum says 13245QTR cup and brake pad has number NU-8-FF-AK they are 12x2 pads with 5 bolt mounting Pattern on backing plate. They are not free backing. I need to replace the whole backing plate assembly due to a bearing failure. Will this work or do you recommend something different?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The 8-201-9 number you listed sounds more like a hub drum part number like the part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ.
If your current brake assemblies are 12 inch by 2 inch (looks like they are from the picture), the # 23-325 would be the correct assembly as well.
For the left hand side you would want the part # 23-324.
