Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2010 Honda Accord

Updated 06/19/2015 | Published 06/18/2015

Question:

Just wanted to make sure this is the right hitch for my car. Want to use it for hauling bikes and also a small trailer. I am not sure what size ball the trailer uses and I am waiting for a reply from the guy who has the trailer. I know I need to buy a wiring harness but want your opinion, do I need the locking pin that says it is anti-rattle?

Since you want to tow and carry bikes I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24899 for your 2010 Honda Accord sedan. If you went with the Curt hitch you would have to use a stabilization strap, # 18050, when using the hitch for anything other than a trailer per Curt's warranty requirements. The Draw-Tite trailer hitch does not have that requirement.

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch does include the hardware including the fishwire for installation. The recommended ball mount is # 3593. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. For trailer wiring you can use # 118420 to install a 4-Way flat connector. I have linked videos showing how the hitch and wiring install.

When using the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.

The most popular bike rack for 2010 Accord owners is the Swagman XTC # S64670. I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.
