Question:
The bumper on our trailer is 1.5inch x 4.75. I noticed in another question where they had a similar bumper size as mine that you recommended the Adjustable Trailer Hitch #13703. Is there any reason the #C19101 could be used on my bumper and drill holes in the bumper to accommodate the bolts for the receiver to hold it on? I cant see by drilling a couple holes in the bumper that it would compromise the strength of the bumper but was hoping for your expert opinion. Jayco Jayfeather X17Z

Expert Reply:
A spacer may be used to take up the gap you would need, but with your bumper at 4-3/4 inches tall, it would prevent part # C19101 from being installed on it because the distance from the tube to the mounting holes measures 4-1/16 inches. I do not recommend drilling into the bumper to accommodate the mounting holes for part # C19101.
I recommend the Curt Adjustable Hitch, part # 13703 as long as the width of your trailer frame is between 22 and 72 inches. I have attached a link to an installation video for you to check out.
