Recommended Replacement Tire & Wheel for Horse Trailer with Living Quarters

Question:
Our 4 star trailer has a GRW of 16,000. What tire would you recommend. We would like to have a speed of over 65 mph rating with good max load range.

Expert Reply:
Unless otherwise noted all trailer tires are only rated for up to 65 miles per hour. Going faster than that causes heat to build up which then causes the tires to fail.
There should be a sticker or plate on the trailer tongue or frame somewhere that lists the proper tires for that trailer. You can also check the tire size on the trailer now and go by that. If you can find the tire size I will be glad to make a recommendation for you.
