Recommended Tow Bar and Flat Towing Equipment for 2014 Chevy Sonic

According to my research, the Sonic is capable of being flat towed, but I'd urge you to confirm that for yourself by consulting your owner's manual or Chevy.

You'll need base plates like the Roadmaster # 523173-4 and a tow bar like the Roadmaster Falcon 2, part # RM-520. The Falcon 2 is very easy to use, featuring auto lock arms that allow you to hitch the tow bar up to the base plates even when the vehicle and the motorhome aren't perfectly aligned. You'll also need safety cables, part # RM-643.

Next, you'll need a lighting solution. One option would be a magnetic mount kit like the Roadmaster # RM-2120. Easy to install and remove, and it won't require any cutting or splicing into the existing vehicle wiring. If you'd like something a bit more permanent, the bulb and socket kit, # RM-155. This option won't require splicing, either, but the sockets would mount to your taillight assemblies through a hole drilled in the rear of them. A fuse bypass, part # RM76510 will also be needed.

Finally, you'll need a supplemental braking system to operate the Sonic's brakes in tandem with those of the motorhome. The Even Brake, part # RM-9400 is an excellent choice that would require no lengthy, expensive installation. The unit drops in place and is ready to go in minutes. A 12-volt outlet, part # RM-9332 and stop light switch kit, part # RM-751457 would also be needed.
