Replacement Hinge for a Subaru Branded Cargo Box

Updated 03/09/2026 | Published 06/03/2015

Question:

A hinge snapped on my Subaru roof cargo carrier - extended E361SAJ200. I need to be on the road in less than 36 hours and I need another hinge. Which part do I order from where or which is a compatible part? Ive got infant twins and two dogs and even in the Legacy that roof box is the only place I can pack stuff for 6 weeks away from home.

I believe that the Subaru cargo box that you have is a Thule Evolution in disguise. If it is the longer version (18 cubic foot model) then the correct replacement hinge is # TH14936. If it is a 16 cubic foot model you can still use this hinge.

My Subaru (Thule) cargo hinge snapped off and I can temporarily snap it back on and it will hold for a minutebut it pops right off—so I think I also must need the to replace part that is attached to the cargo lid as well—what part is that? Help? Please?

@DinahD Good morning Dinah, do you know what model your cargo box is? Can you find a name or part number anywhere on the box or the hinge part you need to replace? Does yours snap onto a ball socket type of part? If so, those normally don't need replaced so I'd be surprised if yours was damaged somehow - also those don't seem to be available anywhere so I'm not sure if we could find a replacement for that ball socket part unless you do a custom diy thing. Let me know or send pictures to [email protected] and I can help more!
