Spare Tire Bike Rack for Rear of Travel Trailer

Can I use this rack on my spare that sits on my rear bumper of my travel trailer? I fear it might bounce around too much back there. Any idea of how the Thule is rated? Thanks, Mike

Expert Reply:

Even though tire mounted bike racks aren't rated to be used on the rear of trailers due to the extra bouncing around they would experience, we do have a solution or two that would work for you.

Swagman's Around the Spare Deluxe Rack, part # S80501, has a two bike capacity and is specifically designed for use on a travel trailer, if the trailer has a 4 or 4-1/2 inch continuously welded steel square tube bumper. If your travel trailer has some exposed frame members on the trailer tongue, the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk, part # CC-275 would allow you to carry two bikes on a rack at the front of your trailer. A bike rack like the Swagman Trailhead, part # S63360 would work excellently along with the Bike Bunk.

I've linked you to some product demonstration videos featuring the products I've recommended.
