Question:

Hello, I am getting a 2016 Elantra GT. I looked at your site and the 2016 info isnt out yet. I confirmed with Curt they have yet to discuss with the auto maker if anything underneath has changed yet, I.e.exhaust routing, tube size, etc.. I saw on your tech tip, you mention where the 2015 hitches wont fit the Korean made Elantra gts. Now I just read a question about The C11400 curt hitch. One of the techs stated after contacting Curt, that this hitch will fit a 2014 Korean made Elantra gt When I looked at the rack, it says if fits years from 2013-2015. Yesterday, I physically went underneath a 2015 and the 2016 I am ready to buy. Everything is identical. So I dont see any reason why this rack would not fit mine if it can fit the 2015. Can you confirm this rack will fit the 2015 Korean made Elantra gt? Then I will give it a shot and see based off what you hear from Curt.

I spoke with my contact over at Curt and he said they have not had any fit issues with 2015 or 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT models built in Korea and hitch # C11400.

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.

Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements.
