Question:
On the width of the trailer U-bolts...is that dimension center to center, inside to inside, or outside to outside? I need one to fit around 3inch square tubing on a trailer. Thanks.

The distance between the legs of the U-bolt part # CE15503A that you referenced is 3-1/8 inches. Check out the picture I attached.
This would fit around a 3 inch square channel.
