Hi, I own a 2007 VW PASSAT WAGON 2.0T model car. Its towing capacity is 2,000lbs. Im looking to purchase a reciever hitch for my car so I can pull my pig cooker. The cooker has a single axle trailer with a traditiional oil drum body. It has some weight to it but I dont think its over 1500lbs. Since I. Can only get a 1in reciever for this car, do you think that this configuration is safe enough to haul my cooker? Thanks for responding

We can help you with everything you need to get your Passat wagon ready to tow your bar-b-q trailer. It is a good idea to check your owner's manual to confirm the car's towing capacity.

The hitches offered for your Passat are all light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I types that can be seen on the link provided. These will fit as long as you do not have the 4Motion version. I suggest the Curt # C11096 along with ball mount # 3594. The hitch's 2000-lb trailer capacity will be fine for your 1500-lb trailer. All you need to add is a hitch ball of the correct size to match your trailer's coupler, either # 19256 for a 1-7/8-inch or # 19258 for a 2-inch ball.

If your trailer has lights you'll also need a wiring harness. You can use Tow Ready Custom Fit wiring kit # 119250KIT.
