Can Tailgate be Opened with Kuat NV Bike Rack Installed on a 2006 Honda Ridgeline

Question:

Hello Etrailer, Will the Kuat nv 2-bike hitch rack fit on my 2006 Honda Ridgeline? If it does fit, will I have access to the trunk? I realize that I may have to take the bike off the rack, but thats ok if I can access the trunk with the rack installed.

On the Kuat NV, # NV22G, when no bikes are on it and you have the arms folded down it measures 13-1/8 inches from the center of the hitch opening to the top most part of the rack. But if you have the arms folded down and also tilt the rack down it measures 11-7/8 inches. So it is possible that you will be able to open the tailgate on your 2006 Honda Ridgeline with the bike rack still in the hitch.

You would have to lower the tailgate and then measure from the center of the receiver opening up to the tailgate. If that distance is greater than 11-7/8 inches it will fit.
