replacement part 853-5210-02 is too wide. wont fit in. anything narrower? thanks.

Do you have a way to measure the opening? For this purpose even a ruler would suffice in showing the diameter that would fit versus what would not. Pin # Y8780020 is a 3/8 inch diameter which is about as small as you are going to find for pins like this. Everything else is going to be 1/2 inch or larger.
Outside of replacement bike rack parts we have snapper pin # 14-212TR which is a small 1/4 inch diameter. The same for # 14-238 and the longer # 37201211.
