E-Track Mounting Bolt Hole Skipping For Securing to a Wooden Trailer Floor
Updated 03/31/2015 | Published 03/30/2015 >
Question:
I recently purchased 2 8foot etracks fro installation on a enclosed trailer floor. They will be used to secure lawn mowers and other equipment weighing up to 1000 lbs. How should these etracks be secured? Seeing as there are roughly 96 screw holes on the track, I assume there doesnt actually need to be 96 screws used. Do you place a screw every some many holes? Are screws fine, or do lag bolts need to be used? I viewed a video on another website that said to use screws in every other hole, but seeing as how that would cost me $60 in screws to secure a $28 etrack, that seems excessive. Please help.

Typically it depends on the application, but for a heavy application we might suggest going with every other mounting hole, but on a lighter duty setup with a stronger wood that the tracks are attached to you can skip more than that. You could probably skip around 2 or 3 bolt holes with your setup and be just fine.
The # SLHLSDS-P is the recommended fasteners to use when attaching e-tracks to a wood trailer, but you might be able to also find a less expensive version of these bolts at a local hardware store, then you could use more fasteners without feeling like you spent more on hardware than the tracks.
