What Is The Weight Of The Trailer Hitch That Fits 2015 Subaru Legacy

Updated 03/16/2015 | Published 03/13/2015

Question:

How much does the hitch for a 2015 Subaru Legacy 3.6r weigh? I want to know how much dead weight it will add to the car. Also, how much does the rear clearance reduce by after the hitch has been installed?

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2015 Subaru legacy is the Draw-Tite, part # 75673.

This is a Class lll hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening. The hitch itself weighs about 35 lbs. since we have not installed this on a 2015 Legacy I cannot tell you how much clearance you will have on your specific vehicle. it would depend on the vehicle suspension, tires, etc. We have installed this hitch on a 2011 Legacy and the clearance from the top of the hitch to the ground was 10 inches. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back edge of the bumper is 4-1/4 inches. I have attached a link to the installation video for this hitch on a 2011 Legacy you can check out.

If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If you need trailer wiring on your Legacy I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part # 118511. To install this harness you simply plug it into the location points in the trunk and run a hot lead wire to the battery. I have attached an installation video for this harness you can check out.

I have also attached links to some of the hitch-mounted accessories we offer for your Legacy you might want to take a look at. If you have any specific items you are interested in let me know and I can make some recommendations that will work for you.
