Recommended Flat Towing Setup for a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

Question:
Does the SMI Air Force 1 require an additional towed vehicle brake light wiring kit like the Trailer Mate wiring harness for activation of the brake lights and turn signal on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The brake lights do activate when the vehicle is turned off, and it appears that the brake light and turn signal use the same bulb. I am considering the purchase of this system along with the Blue Ox Aventa and Blue Ox base plates and want to make sure all required parts are ordered for proper install.

The SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # SM99243 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. You will still need a brake light relay kit # RM-88400 to activate the signal lights and wiring kit like the Roadmaster # RM-154.
Or, the TrailerMate wiring kit # TM781118 you referenced is compatible with the SMI Air Force One # SM99202 but not the SMI Stay and Play Duo # SM99251.
You may need a stop light switch kit # SM99629, which is designed to notify you when your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee brake lights are on. The kit is needed for vehicles whose brake lights don't operate when the engine isn't running.
The items you will need to complete your flat towing setup on your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee are base plates, tow bar and tow bar wiring.
The base plates I recommend are the Blue Ox base plates # BX1128 (for all models excluding Summit and SRT-8) because it's a custom fit for your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When you Jeep isn't being towed, you can remove the bracket arms.
Next, you will need tow bar. The Blue Ox Aventa # BX7445 (safety cables are included) is one of our most popular tow bars and will complement the base plates nicely. Installation is very easy because of its ball-in-socket joint provides flex, even on uneven ground. The weight capacity is 10,000 pounds.
I included a few informative articles and installation videos for you too.
