Does ti extend so that it can be used with the tailgate down?

The WeatherTech # WT81BS1 will extend out just over 9 inches, which wouldn't be far enough that it can be used with the tailgate lowered.

The Heininger HitchMate # HE4045 will extend a step up to 23-1/2 inches rearward of your receiver opening. Depending on the year, make and model of your vehicle, Bestop might offer a Trek Step, like part # B75300 which can be used while the tailgate is open. The step can then retract back up under the truck when not needed. The Trek Step is available for most domestic full-sized pickups and certain models of the Toyota Tundra.
